July 1, 2022 By Tanna Richard Day 20 Free day in Jerusalem before we enter Jordan tomorrow. So the pics are random shots of our day! We walked 11 miles. Hachapuria! This is probably my favorite thing I have eaten in Israel! The center is cheese, spinach and two soft eggs. When they brought it to us they said, “Stir it all together and tear off the pretzel and dip it in the middle to eat.” So good!!!!! Needless to say, Barb and I split it for our lunch. The food item is called hachapuria and the restaurant has the same name! Relaxing in the Jewish quarter for a few minutes this morning. Earlier, we went to the JUC computer center and printed out the required docs to enter Jordan in the AM. We were going to do the ramparts walk (i.e. walk on top of the old city wall) but only the south half is open today because of Friday being the Muslim holy day. There are two orthodox Jewish men who own a biblical shop here in this square who like to answer questions about Judaism. But I cannot talk to them today. They don’t open on Fridays because of Shabbat (i.e., observance of the Sabbath) starting at the end of the day on Fridays. So Barb and I are just “chilling”, doing some people watching. In a few minutes we will head up to the market to eat hachapuria (stay tuned) for lunch. And Barb wants to buy some nuts and I am sure some candy!! Ha! Don’t see many Mercedes cabs in the US! Busy Friday at Yehuda Market with people purchasing food for their Shabbat meals tonight and tomorrow. Barb liked the look of this street! So typical all over Jerusalem. I just took this pic from a long way off of the Western Wall to be respectful of the Jewish community. At times the men along the wall would sing together and dance together.
