Shane Steven Benton, age 33, of West St. Paul, MN, passed away on August 1, 2026.
Born on December 13, 1992, in Fargo, ND, Shane moved with his family to Cedar Rapids, IA, at the age of two, where he grew up and graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2011.
Shane attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 2015. During his time at UND, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a diagnosis that would remain a hurdle for the rest of his life.
In 2017, Shane met his soulmate, Holly Yamada, and the two were married on December 8, 2018. Shane was a devoted husband to Holly and a tender, attentive father to their surprise triplet daughters born in 2022. He was a proud uncle to seven nieces, a loving brother to two older brothers and their wives, and a caring son to his parents.
Those who knew Shane will remember, above all, his remarkable kindness to everyone he met. Shane put his trust in Jesus at an early age and longed to be with Jesus. He needed to be free of the pain and darkness he found in this world. He will be so very deeply missed.
Shane is survived by his loving wife, Holly; his daughters, Rory, Agnes and Nikkō; his parents Steve and Barb; his brothers Grant (Jessie) and Ethan (Kenzy); his nieces Elouise, Emmeline, Madeleine, Olivia, Clara, Margot and Audrey; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Norm and Kathee Yamada of Barron, WI; his brother-in-law Jon Yamada; and his grandfather, Melvin Friesen.
