“Religion versus New Life”
Acts 13:44 – 14:28
I. Those who place their trust in Jesus Christ receive new life.
New life . . .

  • comes through belief in the Gospel (Acts 13:48; 14:1, 21, 23, 27).
  • brings a hunger for the Bible (Acts 13:44, 49).
  • brings joy (Acts 13:48 and 52).
  • brings dependence on God (Acts 13:52; 14:3, 11-18, 23, 26 and 27).

II. Religion without new life is empty. Empty religion . . .

  • comes through rejection of the Gospel (13:45‑46; 14:2).
  • brings jealousy over what God is doing around them (Acts 13:45).
  • brings self-reliance instead of God-reliance(Acts 13:50; 14:2).
  • brings attack against believers in the Gospel (Acts 13:50; 14:2, 5, and 19).

Main Idea: Those who have new life need to live it out!
